I had a LE UT muzzy tag this year and had more problems with "posey" hunters than the guided hunters! The unguided hunters out-numbered the guided hunters by far and each nonguided hunter seemed to have every brother, cousin, and friend helping him out! I really don't blame them for having all the help because LE UT tags are so tough to draw and on the outside it would appear that extra help would improve their likihood of harvesting a great bull.
It was evident on my hunt that all the extra spotters were spooking the heck out of the elk! Extra traffic on the roads, horses going up and down the drainages, etc! Many of them were using radio, radio-gps combos, etc to relay information back and forth to eachother. I guess everyone needs to decide what is right and what is wrong!
The guides and guided hunters I saw had 1 or 2 guides/hunter so didn't appear to be putting near the pressure on game as the nonguided groups of 3 to 10 posey of hunters. I really got frustrated several days by all the posey spotters and hunters and would expect this is true in just about every LE UT hunt!
There may be a couple guides w/horrible reputations but I have a feeling the posey groups of nonguided hunters put a lot more pressure on game?
