The one bull that was on the Rez was shot the last Saturday of the LE hunt. He came into the alfalfa field below the cedars and was there at daylight the next morning. There was a bull with 30 or so cows behind the cop shop, but he looked really messed up. He never left the rez. On the last Friday night, there were 10 bulls and over 100 cows came into the alfalfa field at dark and were there at light and the shooting began. He score 370 with broken 5ths. Elk were everywhere that morning and rutting hard. The bugling kept us up until 3am. Fighting and herding cows, in fact, most of the bulls the next morning were all busted up.
I shot a 6 point the last day and elk were still rutting hard.
We seen lots of spikes and figured the spike hunters would have a blast.
