WGFD E-Mails!

Does WGFD only send out miscellaneous e-mails in the days immediately preceeding some sort of draw result release?

Seems like I go a whole year without them bothering me then as soon as it's in the time frame that some draw results would come out I get a bunch of random updates!

Just checked my e-mail to see if they had announced the super tag winners and had an e-mail regarding a Monthly fishing update! I don't remember ever receiving a monthly fishing update before. If my theory is right I probably won't receive one until about a week before elk results are out next year!

If you registered to be on their email list, you should get very regular emails on almost everything involving the Department. I'm on their list and probably average 3 or 4 emails from them every week. I would go on the website and register again in case there has been some kind of a screwup.

TX_Diver:

The Fishing Update and Hunting Update are new, only about a month or two old. I had the same question and when I called WGFD that is what I was told.

If you provided your email address while applying for a license application you will get emails form them.

I'm sure I registered for their e-mail list and am not necessarily bothered by the e-mails but I just thought their timing was funny as the e-mails I get are always right before a draw when I'm looking for an e-mail from WGFD.

Whoever determines when the e-mails are sent out must have a sense of humor.

I have no idea why you're looking for an email for a draw result, as they don't notify you that way and never have.
