So after attending the expo this weekend, and seeing what all the auction tags went for and seeing all the people applying for the expo tags, I got to thinking. Why is it that for the expo tag drawing, utah is the only state to "donate" our tags to the drawing? Why doesn't Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Washington, Oregon and California donate tags from their public drawings? As I understand it, or atleast the lie we are told to believe, the money generated from the expo for conservation projects doesn't just stay in Utah. It goes all over the place to help with wildlife projects and habitat. I see that governor tags from other states get auctioned off at this expo, so why shouldn't the other states throw in some of their public tags to this drawing all in the name of "conservation"? We give away some pretty awesome tags, at the expense of the residents that live here and because of that our draw odds become worse than they were to begin with (yes even 1 tag is a big deal in the public draws as far as odds go), I think the other states should do the same. Or is utah the only state that will proudly pimp out their animals?
