Grasshopper,
hunting the east end of Muddy just above the Lone Star Ranch is awesome. Take the two track just past the gazebo on top of Muddy to the east that overlooks SMITH creek. There are some great pockets just west of Lone Star's ranch that hold a lot of elk naturally, but if you hunt as late in the season as possible, Lone Star's ranch manager and the owner hunt the area on the last few days of the season. The good thing for you is that he's not a very good shot, and most times the hog bulls get pushed into those pockets and get away. If you would familarize yourself with the area with maps, and gps, you can really snake in and out of forest and blm property without touching private land, even though the owner and manager swear that it's all theirs.
As far as the wolves are concerned, don't get me started. I used to live in Casper, but I now live in Bondurant, just 30 miles south of jackson, and I'm severely disappointed. The wolves are everywhere, and there's no stopping the disrespectful buggers. If I weren't on a monitored website, I'd tell you how I really feel about them and what us ranchers in Sublette county would like to do about them!! They are killing all the lions as well as deer and elk. It's pitiful. Something has to be done about them and fast.....their time has past, they just don't belong here anymore.
