I am thinking to introduce my 15-year old daughter to knight .50 cal for deer hunting. Can anybody suggest a good starting point? How much load is really need for deer under 60 or 70 yards?
I would think a 240-260 gr bullet with 70-75 powder would work...
Not much kick with a muzzleloader...
Just finished cleaning mine today after a morning practice shoot gearing up for our Az hunt this year...
for deer at those ranges I think you could do well with Hornady 300 gr .452 xtp bullet in black harvester sabot, 70 - 80 grains of powder. Your only problem may be finding the bullets.
Thanks for suggestions. I have the hornady 240 gr bullets and some other more expensive 240 gr bullets with powder. We will try these starting at 70 gr powder
