Wyoming Region D

Hello all,
We have drawn the Region D General deer hunt Oct 1st - 8th. This is our first deer tag we have ever drawn in Wyoming. We are not looking for anyone's honey holes or secret spots. Those are too hard to come by these days. We are just looking for some general information regarding the hunt. We would greatly appreciate any information. My partner and I are self guided and adaptable to any hunting condition or enviroment. We always hunt by hiking up to vantage points, setting up and spotting with the glasses until we locate a respectable trophy. The Baggs area seems to draw our interest the most.

If you search on previous posts you will find a good bit of info about Region D. I have hunted D two times but never around Baggs. I have seen previous posts on here that indicate it is pretty crowded but from the maps, it appears there is a lot of public land in that area so if you are able to walk any distance at all you should be able to find an area to get away from the roads and most of the people. Good luck and hope you get a good one. I will be hunting in D again this year. 3rd time I have drawn in 7 tries.

I would also try calling the game and fish office in Laramie and get the name and phone number for the local biologist and game warden and give them a call. I have gotten some good info in the past by going this route.

We hunted that area around baggs and didnt do well at all here a few years ago. We moved over around the saratoga area and saw quite a few more deer but never pulled the trigger. Gary
