AZ Refunds

Am I reading the AZ regs correctly? If I apply for a deer permit, I send the general license fee, as well as the cost of the permit fee?

Further, it looks like if I do not draw a permit, I do not get a refund on the general license? Tell me my eyes deceive me. Please.

Let me know if I'm reading this correctly.

thanks,

WH

Yes, if you are a NR like me you pay $150 for a bonus point every year. Let's see....10pts x $150 a pop....

This will be the same story for Utah starting next season. But they only keep about $50 for my 'hunting license' How kind of them.

It seems to me that there could be some legal issues with requiring people to purchase a hunting license just to apply. If I draw a tag and actually hunt I would have no problem paying the fee. But if I don't even draw a tag why the hell do I have to buy a hunting license? I'm not going to take a trip to Arizona/Utah to hunt coyotes and rabbits.

You could come down here and hunt coyote and rabbits if you wanted. We also have some good dove hunting too!!!

Trust me, I love being out in that country but there are plenty of coyotes, dove, and rabbits close to home.

Just does not make sense that they force you to buy a hunting license just to apply. Oh well, I'll still keep doing it!

LAST EDITED ON Jun-14-07 AT 05:23PM (MST)[p]You can hunt deer, bear, turkey, mountain lion, and others on that license too. I doubt there is any legal issue at all. Are you gonna become the next USO? Also, there are plenty of deer and elk tags that can be drawn with far less than 10 points, even the good ones.

It's Bush's fault!!!

There are other states that require you to purchase their license as well (NV,ID) and more will in the near future....

Yes, I understand that there are many species of animals to hunt and that it is possible to draw many regions w/ 10 points. If I was planning on hunting I would be perfectly happy buying a hunting license, but IMO you should not have to pay for a hunting license unless you are going to hunt. It is basically a $150 processing fee.

This seperates the men from the boys, If it were free the odds would be way harder than they already are. I wish my home state of Oregon would go back to putting up all fees to apply. Then mabye the people who really care deeply about hunting a species like sheep would be the ones getting the tags. Not 9 mo. pregnant women and people who could care less about the tag, but dad put them in because it's only a $4.50 app fee!
Sorry I couldn't resist.

Well I guess I am a man since I have max points. I never said I won't continue putting in, just does not make a whole lot of sense. You do have a good point about it limiting applicants to those who truly want to hunt.

I too have max points in Az for deer and hope to draw someday. Now Arizona has around $1000 of my money and I've yet to hunt Az. I wish I was closer to take advantage of some other hunts Az offers. I would really like to get a Coues to round out my deer slam but I just can't give up on 13B.
The outfitter I work for said not to worry about all the Licenses I've bought and never used, It's just a payment toward a quality hunt.
