Has anyone ever hunted this unit? I had a few questions I was wondering if I could pm someone? Thanks.

Ram,

I've hunted it a couple of times. Great place to "just kill a buck," but not a place to look for a big, mature deer, if that's what you're interested in. Lots of public land in this unit (south side of the Flattops Wilderness) but most of the public is the higher stuff in the Flattops and is more elk country than deer country--lots of dark timber with some scattered aspens and big, relatively flat, open meadows. The transitional oak zone can be good, but is fairly rugged and vegetation is thick (long time with no fires), so not very glassing or stalking friendly. Private land locks up most of the access from below, though there are some BLM areas on the southern part of the unit that are accessible. Unfortunately, all the locals know they are accessible, so plan on company if you go that route. PM me if you want to discuss more detail.
