LAST EDITED ON Jan-16-17 AT 04:34PM (MST)[p]Which should I use for late season elk? The 4.5 is on there now, the 3.5 is on the shelf. I do hunt timber and PJ. Also the rifle is a 7mm Rem Mag and is very accurate.

Do you shoot with both eyes open, and do you practice shooting in tight cover with it on the low setting? Can you remember to turn it down every time you go into the nasties? I practice by shooting jack rabbits in sagebrush and find I have no problems, even with my fixed 6x's. My answer would be use whichever you are most familiar and comfortable with.

Are the Scopes Variable?

3.5X10?

4.5X14?

Oh and just in case homer wants to know?

Are they VARI-X III's?

Or?

VARI-X 3's?

I do keep both eyes open and practice. I'm more comfortable with the 3.5x10x40. The 4.5x14x40 no AO and very clear. It's not as forgiving at 25 yds. I've killed animals with both from 65 yds. to 253yds. Both are VX-III.

With what little Difference there is between the two!

I Don't see it worth the bother to Switch them!

The VX-III's are No Good!:D
