I am sure many of you are spending lots of time here in the Utah mountains. Just wanted to give a heads up that Troy Christensen has still not found a worthy buck for the Gov tag. If any of you see any whoopers out there let us know. He does have the ol' standard Gov tag $10,000 finders fee available. Thanks!!

Oh boy this is gonna be good. Get the popcorn quick!

Why don't we all take off work and go out and find troy a deer so he will not have to do any work at this hunting thing him self but go out and pull the trigger WTF This is what is wrong with hunting these days.

Mogster,

I met you up in Spiderville on July 3rd when a few of us saw 500" of horn on the hoof, but maybe you don't remember.LOL I'll keep you guys in mind, but probably won't happen until Nov.

So now the Outfitter is looking for an Outfitter??? LMAO Tell Troy thanks for the "donation to our wildlife resources" (Again LMAO). He can shoot a spike... They are rare...

Don't these guys usually have a buck picked out in the summer before they bid on the tag??? I thought the Outfitters usually film deer all summer and then show off video and pictures to prospective bidders and then teh bidding starts for the deer???

Yeah, Peak Freak that was some bull huh? Utah is the state. Hopefully we can find a mule deer comparable to the spider bull but that is dreaming big. All I can say to all the e-mails that are going to come through is that Troy Boy has dreamed of this tag for most of his life. Circumstances in the financial area are good but physically not so good. Troy has MS and it is not get any better. So all I can say is we are playing the game, we are not using Doyle Moss or any of the other big guns for hire. We have a few friends helping like Rod Steele. So keep your eyes peeled and if your pocket book could use a few more dollars call us when you find the big boy. For those of you that have already e-mailed me directly and told me about potentials. I look forward to seeing the pics and hopefully joining you on the hill for a hell of a hunt.

I would bet if any of you guys ripping this guy for this post had seen a buck of the caliber he his hunting and didn't have a tag yourself you would be taking him up on the offer. But you haven't seen anything so you make comments that make you sound like a bunch of jealous class envy ph@&s

I could use a new side by side 4-wheeler so ill keep an eye out.

Archery is a year round commitment!!

LAST EDITED ON Oct-11-08 AT 00:01AM (MST)[p]I second swbuckmaster (Scott). I could use 10K. Anyone who finds a buck of this caliber and patterns it to a point of taking them out to get it deserves 10K. These kind of bucks are few and far between and even if you see one, finding it again is not easy. I think anyone who had the chance to get 10K would cough up the big dog if they truly knew where one was. 10K... Thats a sweet archery brown bear hunt in Alaska in my mind. Don't rip on people for having money. All of us would love to be in that position. I think any of us would love to hunt big muleys anywhere in the state for several months. Anyone who says they wouldn't is lying. I personally have never done a guided hunt but for those that do more power to you. As for me DIY is the way to go, but if someone sees it different Im OK with that. Just my opinion

Don't rip on
>people for having money. All
>of us would love to
>be in that position. I
>think any of us would
>love to hunt big muleys
>anywhere in the state for
>several months.

Not ripping folks for having money. Paying people to do the hunting for me would not be very fulfilling, but maybe that's just me.

John, I hope Troy gets a goodun! BTW tell Jason that Olin says Hey! Good luck guys

I would love to have 10 k. I could do alot of stuff with that. It blows my mind that people get so mad that some make an ofer for some HELP, and you rip them apart. If I had that tag and was not finding what I was looking for and had a few $'s, I would do the same.

Good luck to The Christianson Arms team. I'll keep my eyes open! I have seen a few 2x2's and 3x3's and a 24 in 4x4. Is that worthy of the cause?? J/k

10k seems cheap. Since he's apparently like the spider killer and not interested in fair chase, why not just hire a couple of guys in helicopters to fly around till they find the big one. You could have the pilot hover over the animal and keep track of it till the mighty hunter arrives for the kill...

Day in and day out that helicopter flew and hovered for nearly 7 (seven) weeks as it followed ole Spidey 15 miles after he shed his velvet. Many times shots were fired at this nomadic beast with no confirmed hits while flying 145 mph. My understanding is that the 48 days of flying cost the state (yep, the state of Utah paid for it) nearly 200 thousand for their services. NOT! Talk about penis envy.

As far as the deer is concerned, seems like the Henrys could harbor an animal large enough. Has anyone seen a shootable buck on the Hen?

I dont have a governors tag, I dont live in Utah nor am I hunting there, but I do have 10k(pennies) to give to whoever shows me a buck up on the kaibab for my brothers november hunt. But it just can't be any buck, I am talking monster! Atleast a 2 point or better! Please email me if anyone is interested in making some big mula.

You guys a freakin' bunch of cry babies. Get over yourselves. Better yet, pray that you never need a hand fulfilling one of your dreams.

Good luck finding the buck he needs!

Man I'm kinda glad the only thing I do in Utah is mountain bike. Seems to be a lot more hostility than CO.

Wow, I'm glad to see there are so many guys commenting on this thread that will never accept the services of a guide - at least then you can't be accused of being a hypocrit or jealous. Oh, and good thing you have never had someone scout up an animal for your hunt. Again, you are the epitome of the true sportsman - good on you !

Troy, good on you for purchasing the tag and putting your money where your mouth is. It is much easier to talk the talk. And good luck finding your buck of a lifetime. Amazing what those governers tags have yielded in the past.

Tree, as far as I know they never relocated that buck. He saw it early but nothing lately. We have spent many days on the Henry's looking but we have not seen any of the toads from last year, yet. I hope the poachers did not get them that went on there rampage during the winter down there. Most likely they took out a few of the big ones.
The state is large and you just never now where a true monster will show. There are plenty of rumors out there. I just thought it would be cool to involve as many people as possible and to get the word out that Troy has the tag. We are not to proud to ask for all that are willing to keep an eye out for a big one. Spread the love right.. Good luck on your deer hunts this season..

I have one for you! How willing and able is the hunter to hike? This buck is on top... And I mean on top! What matters most to him? Score? Top ten in the state?

I really liked their show on the Outdoor Chanell, I thought they were hunters that worked hard for their animals. Paying someone for the location of a beast is what I call LAZY. If I had that kind of money to purchase such a tag I BELIEVE I would want to find that beast on my own with a few close friends, and take a little pride on actually harvesting it knowing I FOUND IT! Not very rewarding paying somebody to find it for you. Good luck on finding a GREAT one this year, you chose a bad year for the tag with the winter kill in most of the State. Did I say Good Luck?

I grew up with Troy, I'm a few years older. The guy can hunt, or at least he could when he had good health. You pinheads that run your mouths should take a step back and get over yourselves. Mogster, good luck to you guys.

Define, develop, and sustain BOTH trophy and opportunity hunts throughout the state of Utah.

I think mogster knew what he was getting himself into before posting on here. Probably figured he would take the good with alot of bad. I can't find in the book of "Hunters Ethics", it's okay to help somebody unless they have the Gov. tag.

Well when you consider that on a recent episode of our TV show we were hunting Tahr in New Zealand by back pack and not helicopter tells you that we can hunt. Helicopter was an option and most hunters use that method ( some guys will even go as far as having the chopper herd the animal right to them) but we choose to hunt the old fashioned way. We drove in by truck stayed in a public hut with a couple of hunters we met from Australia and let our feet do the rest. It was a blast and a lot of work but that is how I like to hunt. Between my tahr, dall sheep, and a great Mtn. Goat last week in B.C. I have taken more animals out this year on my own back than not. So I despise the Lazy comment. I have been in camp with LAZY hunters and that is not us.. We have did some scouting with friends for Troy's buck and will continue to and yes how sweet it would be if we actually found the big boy but like I said before Utah is a big state and we can hit only so many areas. I hope you keep watching the show and of course we plan to make this whole experience into an episode...

Like you said then "hunt the old fashion way" find it yourself and have a little pride in it! You might not be LAZY but you asking someone for directions to the biggest buck in the State is what I would call Lazy!

Mogster,

I think everyone will be hunting for the next week or so and then I bet you will receive more info, after nobody seals the deal and the big ones start coming out again. Leave the guy a lone he has a great tag, let him hunt, good luck
