I have a family member that drew a "west desert, west" unit archery tag for this upcoming season. I have never hunted this area let alone hunted desert muleys. We have began our scouting around Callao and the deep creek range. Any suggestions or helpful hints to make her hunt a successful one would be greatly appreciated.

Very tough archery hunt for deer. I did it once when I was doing the dedicated hunter thing and was bored and wanting to try some thing new. Very hot, limted cover, and hard stalking due to the noisy ground. Never let a arrow fly, but of course it was still fun just checking all the country out.

Foundation did ya ever see any deer? I've got some leeds on area's but have not been able to put any deer in the bino's. I'm hopeing blinds and water are my key to her kill.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-06-12 AT 07:03PM (MST)[p]I could tell you where not to go, we spent alot of time in there last year with a elk tag and we didnt see much for deer. Everytime we did they were miles away and the most skiddish critters. never did come out until later septemeber
"Its about the chase, Not the kill"

I'm interested in hearing what you know. All info is good info if applied correctly right. lol
