Can you see the elk?

There it is!

Hey! That's a bull; better take a closer look.

He looks pretty good. Now, if he would just turn his head a little...

Nice! But, since I don't have a tag anyway, I can say I would pass on him and wait for the monster.

Cool, what camera? Are those each using different magnification on your camera or blowing them up on the computer?

Nice,

It's a Panasonic DMC-FZ20. Those were all taken from the same spot at different zoom levels.

SS,

Would that be up Sardine Canyon by chance? Just wondering.

Sureshot, how far was the bull from you when taking the pictures? Was it free hand or did you have a tripod? I'm trying to decide on this camera or not.

Thanks,
IB

It was about 125 yards away with a fairly steady rest. I've only had the camera for a few days and I've been experimenting with it. I've found that the image stabilizer works well enough for free hand pictures up to about 18x zoom. After that, you need a steadier hand than I have, or something to rest it on. I haven't used a tripod yet, but I've improvised with everything from fence posts to the hood of my truck and anything steady seems to work fine.

By the way, I've been extremely happy with the camera and would highly recommend it. It has lots of automatic settings to help out an amateur like me.

Good guess, but it's not correct. This background looks like lots of places in Utah and Colorado.
