Is it possible to draw a 13b late rifle tag w/o max pts?

under AZ "NEW" draw system, modified b.p., You have a good chance to still draw over half the n.r. tags in this great deer unit ... hang in there, 13B or "BUST" my suggestion,

I drew the Archery tag w/less than max. I know of somebody else that drew the Rifle tag w/less than max. So, yep.

NR. I had 16, as I remember, and drew the archery. Another guy had about the same and drew rifle. And a third guy I know drew 13A archery with only 6 as I remember.

Yes, I was, and that is a great buck! My archery buck here. The guy I know that drew the 13A archery tag with 6 points didn't get to hunt long enough and didn't kill.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-09-19 AT 10:57AM (MST)[p]thats a great buck also. Did you guys self guide? How wide is that buck?

LAST EDITED ON Apr-09-19 AT 11:16AM (MST)[p]I had a friend flake on my last minute, which gave me a lot of anxiety as I would be solo. Called a guide up and he could take me a couple of days. Actually shot this buck in a different area. If I were to do it again I would have just gone myself although speaking to people about the 4 or 5 areas with bucks would have been necessary. 32"

My buddy didn't use a guide and I was the only one that came and helped him. Embarrassed to say that we didn't get into the unit until 3 pm the day before the hunt. We did have some great info from someone that clearly helped us find a huge buck.

It was a fun hunt, but the amount of traffic on the roads and the dust was horrible. I'd rather have the archery hunt personally.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-09-19 AT 11:23AM (MST)[p]did you run into other camps? Did the guides pressure you out of areas? Just curious. I had a Henries tag and the guides were very aggressive. They were nice enough in person but had one of their clients shoot at a buck at 1200 yards when i was 200 from the buck. pissed me off to say the least.
Big suprise he missed. Even with the guides gun and in a vice.

Guides were very nice, no problems there. The waterhole where my buck was shot was being utilized by a guide and another hunter. I set up AFTER they had killed a great 200+ inch buck on the water. I saw an absolute monster two days before I shot this buck on the same water, but I couldn't pass this buck because of his width. I just like wide bucks. Also, I was on day 9 or 10 Solo (except for the guide being with me a couple of days). It was hot, fly's were horrible, I was ready to move on. Great hunt but would have been better in an air-conditioned trailer!

no doubt, Those summer days can be loooooooong. and hot. If i get this archery tag sounds like I should bring my trailer(with A/C)

curious.... when you were hunting the waterhole did you set up a tent type blind or just ground cover?

Amen.

Very possible. Our good friend Nick drew 13b rifle as a NR last year with 1pt and killed a 243?. Highest scoring deer killed on a AZ draw tag in 2018 as far as I know.

Keep at it, 13b is worth the wait.

Ha, it would be much easier to video somebody elses hunt. Much harder to be the video guy AND the shooter. Sounds like an invitation! Let me know how that draw goes.
