Africa is freaking AWESOME! I cant wait to go back. I loved every minute of my safari, except that darn flight. 4 of us went on a 7 day plains game safari, we ended up with 27 animals. I went in thinking it was going to be "fish in a barrel" but I was completely wrong, it was tougher than I had anticipated, those critters are wary! I shot 7 bullets and collected 7 trophies, both me and my PH were happy about that. Here are some photos...

This Blue Wildebeest was my first animal.

We found out two things about this critter after I shot him. 1-he had been caught in a snare set for the poachers, so he was missing a hoof, and 2- my PH misjudged him, so he was smaller than we wanted. So they let me shoot another Blue at no cost. Here he is

LAST EDITED ON Sep-20-11 AT 04:10PM (MST)[p]Wes....

THAT IS WAY COOL! That must have been one busy week. Thats a lot of animals too. That lion is crazy big. I had no idea that they were that big.
Congrats to all of you guys on your new Africa trophys.

That is great guys. I love the pics of the Kudu. That must have been the most memorable week of your life. Congrats on the kills and thanks for sharing the pics

LAST EDITED ON Sep-21-11 AT 10:03PM (MST)[p]holy crap dude. no disrespect but the old fart has some serious dough. canned or not a lion of that age and main thickness is a $50,000 animal in any part of africa and that kudu was well over 60". they dont let anyone shoot those. u either shoot one off a breeding farm for 10 grand or u have to be a serious player and pay to hunt the one big one they keep seeing. i dont think anyone on this site will ever know how big that last kudu was. thats like a 440" b&c bull elk. ive shot 5 kudu ranging from 53" all the way to 60" and never took one like that! more pics of that kudu please!

I had the same thoughts about the "canned" lion, until they turned it out! They are still way wild. Not uncommon to find lion kills after just one night out of the pen. We had a professional camera man with us on the hunt so we have the lion hunt on tape. Several mock charges, and a full on death charge after he was shot. Pretty nerve racking! We shot the biggest lion they had on the place, they were one of the few in the area that had all of the permits and crap to keep and breed lions. I wont say how much he was but definatly not 50K, it was less. While we were there they had several guys come to our farm and hunt the big 5, other outfitters would bring their clients to this place and hunt them there, so maybe 50K for a lion thatt size if you tack on the additional outfitter fees. We hunted several different farms while we were there, and had two camps that we stayed at. One in the low country and one in the "moutains". The mountain farm had some giant Kudu! That is where this bull came from, they were hunting for a 60 incher, and thought this one was, but he was 58 and change when he hit the ground. Pretty much the only thing we saw that was breeding stock was the Nyalas, and Cape Buffalo. The capes were still very wild and the Nyalas you could have killed with a rock. I do have a picture of a 62 inch kudu that was found on the mountian ranch while we were there, they thought is was a leopard kill.

Man I am jealous. I can't wait til I get to go to Africa and kill some animals. The Kudu is awesome and I want one bad.

looks like one hell of a good time. congrads on some fine animals. that lion has heck of a head on him...

Since you made me jealous with that awesome looking kudu show the old guy this picture of the sable I shot in zambia in June. I figured since he shot a sable he may be able to appreciate this one.

He measures 48" and scores #16 sci all-time.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-05-11 AT 00:22AM (MST)[p]Awesome! I spent an hour with Barry on the phone hearing all about it and I gotta say...I started saving for a Mt. Goat hunt in BC and I'm second guessing that right now! That trip sounds like it was amazing!

Wow, looks like you guys had a great hunt. Nice photos and trophies. Do they cater to bow hunters?
