RiP Topgun

LAST EDITED ON Mar-22-19 AT 08:22PM (MST)[p]Go to campfire forum. Couple threads to look at. A good hunting buddy of his posted he passed away.

One thread is for a RMEF fundraiser.

Another thread is some details on how he went

I am saddened to hear this, but I appreciate you nfh for posting the info here on the WY forum. I usually only look at the Wyoming and New Mexico forums. I wish I would have seen the Campfire forum last week, but that's my on fault.

I don't post very much on here, but I read a tremendous amount on here. Mike and I shared a few private messages over the past few years and as others have written on the Campfire forum, I didn't always agree with his stance, but I greatly appreciated his willingness to take a stance! I believe Buzz mentioned something like that about Mike as well.

RIP Mike and thank you for your service to our Country.

I did not personally know Topgun but via his posts over the years I detected a generous hunter willing to help other hunters...and he was not shy about sharing his opinions.
Good hunting to you Topgun..Hth

+1 With everything you said.

Sad to hear. As most others, I didn't know the man personally, but enjoyed his posts. He added a lot of spice to the site. He was always willing to share his knowledge with most anyone. He helped me personally on a few of my hunts in Wyoming by providing information during the research phase.

I hope his family can find peace with losing both he and his wife so close together. Sad day indeed.

Some more info here:

Michael Kent Stephenson, 71, of Allegan passed away March 16, 2019, after a struggle with cancer.

Michael was born on Aug. 16, 1947, in Indianapolis, Ind., to Charles and Marjorie (Rouch) Stephenson. He was joined in matrimony to Kathleen (Karban) Stephenson on July 26, 1975.

Michael served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1971 at Ft. Bliss, Texas. He later worked for the Michigan Department of Agriculture in the weights and measures department for 30 years.

Michael was an avid hunter and took many trips to the state of Wyoming and to Kalkaska, Mich. He took pride in caring for the grounds at Blessed Sacrament church in Allegan and enjoyed volunteering in the community.

He was preceded in death by his father Charles and his wife Kathleen.

He is survived by his children by marriage, Lorell Vacha and Vincent (Sherry) Vacha; granddaughter Madissen Vacha; sister Wendy (Bill) Dolezal; and nephew Stephen Remenar.

Cremation has taken place and his cremains will be buried in Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek at a later date.

It's fitting there is a post on the Wyoming forum for Mike's passing. He always felt Wyoming to be his second home. This site won't be the same without him. RIP Topgun

Very saddened to hear this news. Rest in peace buddy. Mike was very generous in helping my family out with some intel on a great antelope hunting trip a few years ago and we drifted into many great conversations from those talks.

Sorry to hear Top Gun has passed. Like the rest I enjoyed his post.
Should remind the rest of us that no one lives forever and we should enjoy the great outdoors while we're still here.
RIP and good hunting in the clouds Top Gun.

RIP.
WOW, you just never know when your time on earth is up.

Glad he got many adventures in the past few years.

I'm going to miss his posts, he was both entertaining and helpful to many. Sorry to hear of his passing. RIP T.G.

Wow, that's a shocker! Sorry to hear the news. It's times like this that makes us realize how fragile life is....and that we should make the best of each day on earth! Best wishes and prayers to Topgun's close family and friends!
