Let's break this down
Wyo residents get 90/10 for the big 5 or even all species.....

Landowner tags will decimate any gains from the change.

Think about all those acres put into HMA and walkin areaa?

Do you think those ranchers will keep them enrolled? Or just cash out on transferable landowner tags? Pretty much whole units will be MAJORITY landowner tags. You thought the Utah model was jacked up?

How about if they can get GENERAL areas that are a draw for nonresident as landowner tags?

How about them being able to get landowner tags for.the big 5?

It all means reduced NR and Resident tags.

Who wins? Guides and landowners.

Welcome to Utah

I am sure the above was not considered when you guys jumped on the bandwagon.
You'll feel right at home thinking its Utah.

Speaking of which, why aren't you spending your time fixing that cluster-shag of a State?

Wyoming Residents will take care of business...decisions like passing legislation to allow land owner tags, will have consequences to the politicians voting in favor of such...consequences of the dire kind.

This isn't Utah and this isn't 1960 anymore...the public will decide what's best for hunting here.

Sit back, take out the notepad and pen, and pay attention.

Just a note for anyone not familiar with treedagain. If it goes against his opinion his insecurities come out in the form of personal attacks and questioning ones sexual preference. It’s quite disturbing. Be prepared to be accused of liking men or him taking shots at your family. It’s really all he has for a comeback.

Oh and he shoots young rams. Not a crime, but it should be.

My state is where you are 20 yrs. Ago when a snake oil salesman came around promising to fix things that were not broken.
Buzz your that snake oil salesman. Either you know it or not. Just a cog in the wheel.

There you have it folks classic treedagain.

If only he took all his effort that he puts into name calling towards the cause it would….still be a half assed effort just like his name calling.

Feel free treedagain to post any evidence of you making any participation in wildlife issues in UT or any other state. Of course we all know there is none. You’re just one of those guys that complains….a lot.

Utah was lost 20 yrs ago. When a snake oil salesman made a bunch of promises.
It is done and over multiple times over.

What have you done? Just jumped on the bandwagon?

You need to look back and see that I have not disagreed with 90/10 for the big 5.

To think 90/10 will become law of the cowboy state without some resident public land hunter sacrifice somewhere along the way would be fool hearted. As with most things political and with so many stakeholders there is likely to be some required “give” on the resident side of things.

Hmmmmm..............

Why are utards so miserable? Oh yeah the only decent hunting takes 20 years of points hahahaha

Why don’t all is NR hunters ban together, boycott WY for a year, and see how the state likes it? Give them a little taste of what will happen if they pass that. When their is a drastic increase in unemployment and welfare maybe their eyes will open up and see how much money comes from NR hunters.

This is the best idea I have heard in a long time.

You first...put your money where your mouth is.

Go ahead. We can do the same to your state. Why is everyone up in a roar on what wyoming does when other states have less opportunity for NR?

Do you realize the amount of money we spend as residents to hunt. Between fuel, horse care, horse shoes, hay gear etc, etc. As i said before when i hunted montana last year they got my money for the tag and a meal at reatraunt along with a trip to carquest. A whole extra $60 of revenue. Everything else spent in wyoming.

Maybe as a resident if we drew a harder tag across the state i myself would get motel rooms, more fuel etc etc... 90/10 on the big 5 will have very small impact on state revenue

Why would a landowner quit the hunter management system if he got transferable landowner tags? He can make money off both....boy that was a real brain buster
It would most likely be either or? Do you think the state would pay for access and give tags? Would those tags be private only? Seeing that those tags would come out of the draw? And in some units most of the tags would go to landowners. Especially with antelope? And more than 1 elk unit.
Not really a brain buster. Just common sense?

First the TF would have to approve transferable LO tags, highly unlikely the legislature would approve that. What you might see is an 85/15 for DEA with 5% of the NR tags going to Outfitters.

Why would the TF roll so quick on the 90-10 for the big 5 if they did not want to get something in return?

Probably because they know the only way forward is 90/10 for the Big- 5. What remains to be seen is if a consensus and compromise will happen on DEA. If there is it may entail some form of Outfitter giveback like 5% of all NR licenses set aside for an Outfitter pool. Transferable licenses would be far more problematic and I doubt a Legislature would follow through on that but a small pool of Outfitter set asides might be in the works in exchange for an 85/15 scheme. Residents would still come out ahead as now for deer and antelope it is 80/20. The reason the TF voted 18-0 is likely an overall consensus it was the right thing to do for residents when compared to almost every Western state. Some of the Outfitters also know moving from a 75/25 to a 50/50 system will help their grandkids.

If you want to read some hilarious stuff, you can read the public comments on the task force website ?. Some of them you can tell is jims "im a nonresident please dont do 90/10" hahaha what do you think they gonna be like? "Ok since he asked nicely how about we scrap this idea huh boys?" Bahahaha

90/10 and OIL for the big five is on it's way to the legislature interim committee.

They can't decide on if or how to change the point system for moose and sheep.

Just sitting here, laughing at all the Wyoming dudes, with barely 2nickles to rub together pretending their equal in voice or power to the deep pockets.

"Wyoming ain't Utah". ??????

Yup, Wyoming politicians don't need money in their campaigns. ????????

The little guy will decide????????

Ya. You guys with your $40 spent on tags every year will speak volumes vs the guys who drop $10,000???????????

Cuz it's WYOMING, not Utah. You bunch of independent, hardliners, not like your weak neighbors to the west????

Maybe we should ask Liz Cheney how you all roll, and how $$$ and power doesn't matter in Wyoming?????????

I'm sure when the commission and governor see Buzz and JM roll in they are just scared chitless??

Yup. Wyoming ain't Utah. Utah didn't have an example, Wyoming does,

Carry on.

This post is a perfect example of a comment from someone who has nothing to contribute to the conversation.

Just experience and wisdom from someone who has been down this road. You guys are like teenagers. You know everything, don't want to listen, and ten years from now you'll look back and say "I'll be damned, I didn't know it all"

Says the guy who doesn't live in Wyoming and doesn't attend task force meetings or any G&F meetings for that matter. You jump on the threads and berate and name call and you think anyone wants to listens to you?

And besides, you haven't been down any road for these matters in Wyoming. Experience and wisdom? About what, 90/10?

Nope. You guys are the first to address NR splits.

Don't need to attend those. The guys who will ultimately make decisions, don't either

Snuff and a bag of chips is hardly paying taxes. LOL

J/K man don't kill me.

Really though...don't know much about this 90/10 thing. So you guys recommend that I cash in my points ASAP as a NR?

Also, should I spend $15 or $20 for gas while there?
That's all opinion on your points i dont bank points in other states i get enough for a decent tag and burn because i like to hunt

I surely will miss hunting (so often) in Wyoming. I grew up there, hunted for 8 years until graduated and moved to AZ. Been back as NR 15-20 times, mostly elk, a couple deer, one antelope in that time. It's been a great run. But, it is their state, and they'll do what they do as they say.

As for revenue- I assume they'll raise resident fees (and almost certainly NR fees) to make up for the large reduction is NR tags? Apparently NRs pay 77% of license fees in Wyoming, so something will have to give. Or the G&F can start relying on general funds more, which I know has always been a sore point in the state.

Luckily this 90/10 isnt going to hurt you from coming elk hunting.

I will carry on...and you have no clue what you're talking about.

Wyoming politicians do need money in their campaigns and you're making some wild guesses on who, and who doesn't have the money to influence them.

Shows how little you know about state level politics.

While I can't speak to the financial situations of others on this board, I can speak to mine.

My wife and I make enough to donate substantially to campaigns, and we do.

Why don't you ask Jim Allen and Anselmi-Dalton what happens when you forget who you work for...just sayin'.

Mixed answer on sales tax. 24% of budget is from taxes on hunting equipment- wow! So NR tags make up 77% of 61%, or about 47% of their total budget, still a big chunk. Good news is Wyo G&F is still independently funded (not part of general fund).

Yup. I'm sure youre a real power player.

Frankly I care less what Wyoming does. They are your animals, do what you wish.

The Utah guys that have seen this circus before, all say the same thing.

But YOU know better. In Wyoming everything is above board. There are no back room deals. No political favors. Nope. By gawd if things get political, ole Buzz will step in an set them straight. ???

Wyoming's not Utah. True. Utah was naive, we got steamrolled. Same is coming to Wyoming theyre just too too dumb to pay attention.

Big campaign money sounds like adjoining state political penis envy filled with outside influence. The avoidance of big donations and the average Joe political mentality is what keeps Wyoming unique and worthy to residents. Careful of the "good intentions" of seemingly beneficial big money donations as most have alternative self serving motivations attached not for the well being of the majority of the constituents served.

Yea not sure why you assume eveyone from wyo is poor ? i know jm77 isnt, im not buzz obviously isnt soooo.......

Yup. Liz CHENEY got elected with her grass roots campaign. No money or influence in Wyoming?

Good luck. Us genius Utah guys will only point and laugh in the future, we will hold back the told you so
