Has anyone hunter unit 40 elk archery? I've got the points and I've hear that the elk hunting can be crazy good. Looking for at public land, but willing to entertain a not stupid expensive trespass fee.
I've heard that hiking deep into the public can get really good for archery because not a ton of people go past a mile or two. Is that true? And how hard is the hike in do you know? For the most part, you will not find a reasonable trespass fee in 40.
Can be good but be prepared to be frustrated, the elk know where they are safe. The public can get crowded since there is not much good public land in comparison to private especially that time of year.
Thanks for the well wishes man. Thankfully I've had some amazing guys respond to me and give me great advice and locations to look at in the area! I'm not after a giant, just a respectable and legal animal. It may be a little tough getting much info about this area. If there is non expensive private I’m sure it’s been taken. Regardless good luck they do kill some nice bulls on public.
Luckily ive had a couple guys give me exact areas to look at and all the layout of the land In these locations. I will be doing some scouting in the areas after the snow melts and things dry up.Probably not your best option for a public land archery hunt going in without boots on the ground knowledge of the unit.
Seen Some Nice Bulls in 40!
I'm Perty Sure They Were On Private!
There is no deep in 40. Most don’t go past a few miles in archery because you can’t.I've heard that hiking deep into the public can get really good for archery because not a ton of people go past a mile or two. Is that true? And how hard is the hike in do you know?
True, but most hunters won't to in past a mile, if they even go in that far to begin with. There is no deep in 40. Most don’t go past a few miles in archery because you can’t.
