I have never hunted unit 40, but from OnX I would scout south of bull canyon.
Not sure why you chose Unit 40 without either knowing someone with private land or have your eyes on an animal already.
I wish you luck though. Let us know how you do.
Sorry everyone, I have been out of town for work the past few weeks.
I did manage to get to the range prior to my trips.
I backed off on my powder to 77grains by weight and it seemed to solve all my problems. 100yard group was very close to being within MOA and dead on at 200 and 300 yards...
I went to go scout Unit 17 for a hunt this fall and found the road I wanted to go in through was blocked. Nothing like driving 3 hours and then finding your area is closed. It had a memo from the USFS stating the area was closed on July 17th and would open the 28th of August at the latest. When...
UPDATE
Can someone a little smarter than me explain why I am on at 100 & 200 but then way right at 300 yards? Was a fairly calm day, I tried to wait for the breeze to stop each time fired.
I am leaning towards the SST due to the following:

Are you ok with possible eating the cost of an out of state tag due to not seeing a "Size worth Buying " bear or the unit is closed because the bear quota has been met? Are you ok with not having a tag and forced to watch a " Size worth Buying "...
ARHunter,
Your welcome, my son was 14yrs old at the time and as you can see he was really happy. That was his first Bull and the only one we have managed to get so far.
I wish you the best of luck and let us know how the hunt turns out.
LAST EDITED ON Apr-22-19 AT 12:21PM (MST)[p]I will give this a shot from my perspective.
I joined this forum almost 4 years ago, I think. I joined after finding it while searching the internet trying to educate myself on how to hunt all the critters here in the western states. I was and am...
