Utah bonus and preference points

Is it possible to obtain both Utah bonus points and preference points in the same year?

I've been building a few bonus points for the limited draw but wondered if I can also build preference points for the general draw at the same time?

Yes - put in for a Limited Entry deer tag and a General Season deer tag. If you don't draw either, you will earn a bonus point for LE deer and a preference point for GS deer. You could also buy a bonus point for LE Deer and a preference point for GS deer during the application period.

And if you are out of state you can buy a BP for every OIL specie.
If you are in state and pay too many taxes, breathe our crappy air, and drive on our over-crowded roads=screw you! You can only put in for one specie of OIL.

I’m thinking about applying for a general season Preference point this year. My current hunting license from last year is still valid for now but my question is will I need to buy a new hunting license in order to get the preference point?

You don't need to buy one if yours is still good as of the day you apply.

Just make sure you apply before your license expires and you’re good. You don’t even need to buy a new one during the actual hunt dates if you draw-only has to be valid when you apply/buy your point.

I went ahead and applied for another preference point today. They didn’t charge me for a license so I guess I’m still good. $16 for a nonresident general season buck deer preference point.
Just need to decide what to do with them 18 points!
