I had a tag in a buddy and I both had tags in 67-1 last year. That’s just across the road from you. From what we experienced the rut was about the last week of Sept-first week of Octoberish. Then the bulls vanished till that first week in November and the cows that didn’t get bred cycled again...

Hunting elk in the brush is sweet. It is a different experience then hunting them in the mountains but I am beginning to prefer the sage flats. For me having a good spotting scope and binoculars is huge. A good spotter(Vortex Razor) is invaluable when spending a lot of time behind the glass...

Idaho didn't show me any love so until the 2nd chance draw is over it is looking like it will be OTC for archery deer and elk. The Mrs. didn't draw anything either so she may be picking up an OTC whitetail tag.

First of all congrats on drawing a great tag. While there are some good 350+ bulls there you may have to eat your tag if you hold out for one. A 330 to 340+ goal should be more reasonable to find. The two-point hunt does have an effect on the elk and they get pushed around quite a bit...

Great information but I think he has an early archery tag. I think.... With as big of country as it is down there I would hunt the bucks you have seen during your other hunts. I would think they wouldn't be too far..
