Very interesting color pattern on your bull. Are other elk in the area that dark? Congrats to you.

I understand that Idaho needs the money. So for that reason keep the second drawing. But for the leftovers, that the season starts early, why don't they just put in the people who put in for the hunts originally?

Great buck, love the character. I could never handle those temps. Your buddy reminds me of a hunting buddy from Nevada. When we go out, I head for the tree-line and he has his binos out glassing the sage. Again, good job and way to learn how to get things done.

That's a good buck, especially under the circumstances. He'd be tough to pass on. Well done and best of luck to you chasing elk.

This is killing me to wait...Is it going to be disappointment or if I draw I can worry about the area burning up this year.

My dad grew up hunting whitetails in Wisconsin and I want to take him up north this fall. We have hunted Grangeville a few times in years past. Any suggestions on hunting units up north would greatly be appreciated.

These guys spend more money coming over here to hunt each year than what they were fined. It's sucks finding out these guys were basically hunting the range just above where I hunt.

Leave it alone. In the units you talk of, my dad, daughter and I have all draw deer and elk once each in about 10 years. I can live with that knowing the odds. I always have a back-up plan, but still am excited for the results. In your plan, I do not see odds getting any better for deer...

A friend of mine was in there last year on the elk hunt with his son. He said about the same thing, saw a monster buck next to a road two days in a row just prior to the deer opener. Other than that he said he saw a few 4 points in the same 25"-26" range.

BBB, How were the results of your hunt last year? Just wondering, still trying to narrow my unit to put in for. Haven't been in 40 since they shut it down. Would love to go back.
