    What causes this?

Any thoughts what or whom creates this type of art on trees? All my time in the woods I've never seen this. My guess is woodpecker but it's all so symmetrical

    Western co fires

DW, I concur with you 100%. Due to the terrain, high winds, temps in combo with dry undergrowth and the massive amount of fuel of beetle kill its gonna be ugly. This has a lot of potential to be the states biggest on record unless we get a lot of rain and it burns back on its self. It has...

    6,16,17,171,161 Fourth Season Deer

I have hunted in that area for elk for nearly 18 years and can count on one hand the number of bucks that would go over 180". The last two fall seasons of Archery I've laid my eyes on two really nice bucks. I have been putting 15 days afoot just during each archery season. Dont get me wrong...

    Dream Buck

Watched this little guy all day on apposing side of the fence until 4:10 pm when he wandered onto my side. He dropped into a draw and couldn't find him before i lost light. Hopeful to locate him on the property I have access on before late plains rifle season start. I think Id retire from...

    Eastern Colorado Toad

Got a line on this buck Sunday. I still have almost all November and half of December to get in on him and seal the deal with my archery tag. Corn is still up, so he may have a few friends like him still hiding. Cool buck even if I don't see him again

    How high for deer?

I use to rifle hunt in 421 on the mesa up high during second rifle. I never had a deer tag myself but most in our camp did and it was very common for a couple guys to tag out on deer. That being said, you can find them through all the zones from top to bottom. Like others said the deer near...

    what unit for bear?

If you live in Ft Collins area I'd say go to North Park. Bear Numbers are 5 x's what they use to be. I've seen bears every year the last five year while archery hunting. Some areas I see more bear scat than I would prefer while elk hunting. Good color phases as well. I believe you can even...

    Unit 98 Lanowner tag

Stu, Not very likely you will be able to find any Landowner tags for sale for that region but wish you luck. Most of the land owners who apply either use the tags for themselves, family and friends or have an outfitter operating on their land. Even land owners take 5 -7 years to draw a rifle...

    Late Shed score.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-06-17 AT 10:36AM (MST) by Founder (admin)[p]Proof that big bulls do exist in OTC units. Now the question is why cant I locate these class of bulls during archery. In all we found 8 sheds, not all in the picture. 5 of the 8 were 6 pt bulls with good mass, 4 rights and one...

Winter bordom / home made Archery target

Its as close as I could get it without adding the rest of his legs on one sheet. The rest of his legs would add enough that it would be pretty close. I just got tired and didn't think the additional 12 inch mattered as much.

Winter bordom / home made Archery target

Ever look at life size elk archery targets and wish they were affordable. Well, I did and holy cow are they ever expensive. Being bored and wishing i was in the hills, I killed some time and made a target with a 4'x8' sheet of corrugated plastic and some spray paint. All I need to do now is...

    Cactus Buck Questions

So last year My dad shot a great cactus buck and it was the first I have ever seen out east in an area I've deer and pheasant hunted for 15 years. This weekend while out scouting I ran into two more bucks with velvet still on at the same place. My question is what's the cause? And is it...

    Colorado Last day luck......

I've been pretty fortunate the last three years being able to harvest four great animals that have filled the freezer. Looking back, since I have only been bow hunting five years I cant complain at all. I hope the cup continues to overflow with rewards of hard work.

    Colorado Last day luck......

For Colorado he's a great bull and for the last day he's a giant. I would have been tickled if it had even been a cow at that point.

After twelve days of rare sightings, hot weather, little movement, dry, little feed and wind I was able to put it together on this respectable 5x6.

    Cactus Buck back from Taxi

I picked up my dads 2015 Cactus buck last week and helped him hang It up with some reluctance from my mom. Crazy cool buck with character from his pints to his cowlicks on his breast. Never got good up close pictures of all his craziness after the kill so I thought I would share them now...

    Non Typical Buck 19 x 19

My Dads Muzzy buck. Not one of the monsters that I know is in area but a great buck and he couldn't be happier. Cant beat the character in this buck. He changed a lot over the last year. It was a hard hunt with corn still up and 96 degrees during the day with hard winds. I'm so happy I...

UNIT 361 White River National Forest "HELP"

I've seen elk out in the scrub oak by Radium a lot and all the way to the top during archery season. Herds use to reside mainly on the ranch once hunting season opened but now the ranch hunts it, so helps a little but not a lot. Cotton wood creek is a good place to start.
