Yeah I was curious if anyone had filled a tag during those hunts. There are some pretty good resident deer in that unit, but your chance of filling a tag go up in the rifle hunts. I'd leave the muzzle loader at home. I'm taking my 270 winchester.

When I was in 2B in 2011 there was oil field activity everywhere. When I went back in 2014 there was hardly any. I guess we'll see what 2016 looks like.

I think it's worth the drive from south central Texas where I'm from. My partners and I have put in for 2B exclusively since 2010. It's a fun hunt that is different from what we're used to. We have never killed any toads, but I like the fact that the possibility is there.

Just got back the difference between HD and a standard hunt back this morning.

I'm 36 and in relatively good shape. The distances where I hunt now, we rarely shoot over 100 yards at deer. My group drew 2nd rifle 2B mule deer. So we will be practicing with our rifles at greater distances.

Thanks for the info. I was up there last year for the muzzle loader season and we had a full moon. This will be my first rifle hunt in 2b, so I wasn't sure how this migration worked. This year we have new moon so maybe that will help. Has anyone noticed any pre rut or rutting activity?
