I was encouraged to see that antlerless tags for deer aren't in the book this year. Will they maintain this, or is it just a one year test run? Surely the state will see a positive impact from that single change.

Can't afford that half of the state now. As stated above most folks are moving to Elko and White Pine county. Heck if someone comes knocking on my door I would sell. Heard many stories of that happening lately.

Western part of elko county got hammered this week.

Whats strange is the unit 40 tag sat at 160ish tags for weeks only selling one now and then. Other units had a few tags that no one wanted either. I logged in just before you made this post and the entire tab for general deer was gone. I figured it was a glitch, but apparently not.

Fatrooster and I were in there last year. The prices we were told for being packed in was outrageous.

Hell yes! I personally know someone who draws a party tag every year with his wife. She doesn't hunt and turns it back in for the points. Last I checked they were around 15+ points. The issue has been addressed multiple times to close this loop hole. Glad they finally listened!

Boot tracks. Atv tracks. Shed impressions left in snow where they were removed. Several hard days of goose eggs.

As a resident I dont waste points on that unit. If I draw it oh well. You cant get away from the people. Second most archery tags given out. You bounce around people to hunt the deer. 180 is a beast in 14. Much larger deer in 6, and easier to get away from people in 10. Not worth the points.

I thank you for the advise. Just different from the way I'm used to is all. Last year the "high pressure, hunter packed, low elk" was not the case at all. So I thought going deeper would only make it even better. Sounds like maybe I shouldn't change zones and stay where I'm at!

idhikker Can you explain why the low numbers? That would be backwards from Nevada where the wilderness areas hold the majority of animals.

ArcheryAddict Steep hills between the goats and yourself work wonders ;-). I've hunted them enough to know the stars lined up perfect on this guy. Might not get that lucky again.

mevertsen I tend to draw three tags a year. If the goat tag wasn't up to snuff I turn it back in so one of you can have it, instead of not having the time to properly hunt and wasting the tag.

Turned 5 tags back to NDOW before I drew the one I wanted. This guy and 30 does decided to bed down allowing me to slip into 60 yards. When he stood up I was able to close the deal. Fun hunt will do again!
