    Caliber Thoughts

I’m loving my 6.5 prc. I also have a 6.5 creedmoor and a 7mm mag, and my go to for everything has been the prc. Very confident in the rifles ability for both elk and mule deer.

    Youth 2B Hunt forecast

Need snow in Colorado. Those bucks will come for the rut, but having snow will push them down sooner. Pray for weather.

    Youth 2B Hunt forecast

The bucks in Colorado haven’t really started moving yet. It’s been too warm. Be patient, they will show up as the rut progresses. Good luck. This is a great hunt. Don’t forget to post pics when you’re done.

    temperature affect on POI

I have a couple questions before my upcoming colorado deer hunt. I live at 6500 feet, and will be hunting deer between 7K and 9K feet this year. I got a new gun this summer and have spent a lot of time shooting all year. I took it to the range this past weekend to verify everything was still...

    6.5 prc ammo question

I just ordered this caliber in a browning x bolt. The gun has a 26” barrel with a 1:7 twist rate. I live and hunt at 6500ft. Will I have any issues shooting hornady 143 grain eldx from this rifle?

    No scopes on muzzleloaders

Without giving away what hunts I apply for I’ll try to explain. There are 30 more tags in the deer unit I apply for this coming year and 50 more elk tags. Just go back and compare last years hunts to this years hunts in the proclamation.

    No scopes on muzzleloaders

I think you’re correct! I also think this will continue. I live between two units that are muzzleloader and archery elk units only. I have already heard talk from outfitters about getting their muzzleloaders setup with long range peep sights so their clients can use their guns and still shoot...

They are all feeding in big herds off the roads! You shouldn’t have a hard time finding elk.

    No scopes on muzzleloaders

Go look around in some of the units that are muzzleloader and archery only and tell me that they are what they used to be 5-10 years ago. Look at 13 and 17. Quality way down. You go out on public land and there are 5-10 spotters for hunters that are using outfitters. Guys with radios calling...

WSMR Oryx hunt January 14-16, 2022

All I said is that the 6.5 is sufficient for oryx. You don’t need a 300 mag or 338 to kill one. If you’re comfortable with a 6.5 or 270 then use it. Sure those bigger calibers do more damage, but to say not to use a 6.5 or similar caliber is not good advice. We have killed a lot of critters at...

WSMR Oryx hunt January 14-16, 2022

Not true! I killed an off range bull last year at 690 yards with my 6.5 creedmoor. It’s about placement, and if you can hit what you’re aiming at with that round then have at it!
