I've tried the rampages and they worked fine, the setup ended up heavier than I like so I went to carnivores. Both arrows shoot great, very consistent. The last elk I shot didn't know the difference, blew right thru it.

I've shot multiple elk with 52lb longbows. Arrows roughly 9.5 grs per pound. 2 blade heads. All but one was a pass thru, the one hit low but I still got it. Compounds, 60lbs, 462gr arrow, 275fps, 4 or 3 blades, all but one was a pass thru.

I feel ya, same thing happened to me last year with a D340. Picked up a used Xpedition off archerytalk, tuned it in camp, and sealed the deal a few days later. Took 6 months to get the parts from Bowtech to fix that bow. My buddies cousin had a Hoyt blow up in camp last year as well. Down...

Killing more elk won't do a thing to help the deer herd. Elk are grazers, deer are browsers, they primarily eat two different foods. What would help is to remove all the encroaching water sucking pinyon and reseed with sage and other browse plants. and while we're at it, start logging again...

I'm not sure what the spine is on the arrows you are using but you really need a 330 spine cut to 28.5". With broadheads hitting low you could also try raising the rest.
