    Scouting photos

Most of the deer we saw were in the 8500-9000 ft elevation range. The 160 class buck was about 8000 ft in thick timber and didn't want to move. We walked past at 100 yards and he never flinched.

    Scouting photos

Just wanted to post a few scouting photos from the weekend. We must have been in the right spot because we saw 35 deer and only one was a doe. The 3 bucks pictured in this post came out pretty early in the evening. In the morning everything seemed to bed really early. We didn't see any...

    2015 Yukon Sheep

Thanks LBH! I thought I had seen all of Landrus' videos but that one was new to me. He's had some good success with Dan. WVH, this isn't the only place I've been warned about Vancouver. How can you be prepared for a delay like that?

    2015 Yukon Sheep

I've got a sheep hunt with Dan Reynolds and need to be in Dawson on August 30th. For the guys that have traveled to the Yukon, what advice do you have? Is one airline better than the other? Do I rent a car or charter a flight from Whitehorse to Dawson City? How much of an arrival/departure...

    Sheep Gun?

LBH, this is the gun I'm considering for my 2016 sheep hunt. Actually it's really the only gun I ever considered. I harvested a Rocky with it in 2005 and the same gun shot my goat last year, 13 miles into the Frank Church wilderness. It shoots under an inch. This year I purchased a lighter...

    Sheep Gun?

It's easier and cheaper to loose a few pounds off your gut, then take the rifle you're most comfortable shooting.

    1st draw

LAST EDITED ON Jul-07-14 AT 07:15PM (MST)[p]Navaluk, have you ever broken the speed limit? Or rolled through a stop sign? If so, are you "crooked or stupid"? The age limitations suggested by the IDFG were called a "guidance". A lot of people were confused, including employees of the IDFG...

RE: Try to explain this to your 10 or 11 year old that you had told couldnt enter the draw Colorado had problems this year and they redrew stripping some people of their tags. Fortunately that state discovered the problem before the official results came out. Idaho should have swallowed hard...

Try to explain this to your 10 or 11 year old that you had told couldnt enter the draw

RE: Ok "My issue is with IDF&g for catching the applications and allowing them to draw tags knowing the were doing a great injustice to literally thousands of 9&10 year olds who followed the rules." I agree. "the only ones who should feel guilty are the parents who put them in for tags" I...

Try to explain this to your 10 or 11 year old that you had told couldnt enter the draw

RE: Ok Justin, you're missing the point. You said it yourself. If the system checks eligibility then all unqualified applicants should NOT be considered, but they were. This is an FNG problem, and that's why I like Zekes opinion. Obviously there was a ton of confusion but if you're correct...

Try to explain this to your 10 or 11 year old that you had told couldnt enter the draw

RE: Ok Take it personal, there are vast amounts of gray area even after studying the regs. If you don't know that you don't read them enough. An FNG employee told me 10 yo's could apply.

Try to explain this to your 10 or 11 year old that you had told couldnt enter the draw

Try to explain this to your 10 or 11 year old that you had told couldnt enter the draw

RE: Ok Thanks, Zeke. Yours is one of the few opinions worth considering on this thread. It would seem the FNG would have systems in place to prevent this type of thing from happening. If not, what would stop unsuccessful OIL applicants from applying for deer, elk and antelope? Or successful...

RE: Try to explain this to your 10 or 11 year old that you had told couldnt enter the draw I was told by the FnG my 10 y.o. COULD apply. So we put him in and he drew. I think the simplest solution would have been to allow eligibility to anyone that turns 10 before the season. That way they...

Question of the Day ... Trekking Poles

In my experience trekking poles extend your hiking range and increase the amount of meat you can comfortably pack out. I used to make fun of them until I gave them a try.
