Let me guess, A5 guides? I ran into the same tactic on a barbary hunt.

Does anyone draw them anymore? Ever since the stupid Sept./Jan break up they're damn near impossible to draw.

This isn't necessarily true. I've killed plenty of hogs with a 12 gauge and buckshot. Heck, even killed some with steel shot after duck hunts! Just depends how close one can get to them!

Then all the hunters would be bitching about Rx burns interrupting their hunts. Not to mention is sure is difficult to burn anything with snow on the ground and no personnel.

The length of hunt, or lack thereof, really is ridiculous. Administrators will usually make a point of letting the hunters know they "allow" these hunts as a privilege to hunters. Texas public land hunting, especially TPWD hosted hunts, truly are a mockery of DIY public land hunting.

Nada for myself as well. Oh well, this was the one year I didn't want to draw the Yoakum Dunes hunt since I had already committed to helping a buddy on his first mule deer hunt in Kansas.

Similar results between my wife and I. Anyone who says we need more hunter recruitment deserves a kick in the groin.

I struck out on both bear and turkey but my wife drew a Valle Vidal turkey tag. This will finally give us a reason to spend some time up there, despite it only being a couple hours away.

I emailed Game & Fish about a month ago with the same question and they responded with July as the expected date.

Congrats on the tag! That hunt was going to be my first choice until I saw it ends on Christmas day this year.

That particular hunt choice is tossed and move on to the group's next choice.

It has been real tough hunting in eastern NM this season. The population is reduced from the previous three years but still plenty to be found. The dogs just can't find scent because it is so dang dry! I keep praying for a little snow or passing rain, heck even just a morning with frost would...

No kidding. Sounds like someone is either bitter about their hunt or they know something. There are plenty of deer in 31, the difficult part is drawing a tag - especially for a non-res. I wouldn't be surprised to see it become a "high demand" unit soon.
