What is an Open Registration area? Anyhow... you can hunt in any of the seven mountain ranges in Alaska with a general harvest ticket. Best of luck.

Taj now owns Island Air, and I'd highly recommend him! We just did a DIY Brown Bear hunt and deer hunt through him and it was great! So were the previous trips I've done using him as our pilot. Best of luck! Kodiak is great!

AO or a Cabelas Guide Series with aluminum poles for a base camp. Hille for spiking out. All depends on weight restrictions and such as well... Four of us will be staying in this come August while hunting Caribou up north... It worked great last year for three people, just bring a few...

You can never have enough tents... I had one when I lived in Idaho. Now that I live up here, I have 6 and want another :) I'd take an Arctic Oven to Kodiak for a base camp, you can use that tent for moose fly outs and even bou if weight isn't too much of an issue. Then bring a smaller 2 man...

Be careful folks, caribou bag limits are changing in MANY (Kotz, etc.)areas for NR this coming fall. I can't see the fly out's being very cost effective anymore considering you can only take one bull... So do ample research prior to settling on an area.

The going rate on the North Slope for a fly in Bou hunt is about 2200-2500 per person. Most book up pretty quick for the better weeks (late Aug) but you may get lucky and have an opening. I went last year in late August, had a blast with another operation. No bugs, cool temps and lots of...

Good luck on your hunt, you may be surprised at how tough it is to get a deer on POW. If you go early (Aug/Sep) expect the deer to be living in goat country (no goats on POW though). If you go later, your guess is as good as any as to where they are. My first trip to POW I hunted 9 days, saw...

Get yourself a quality string and your peep rotation will all but disappear. There are some great options out there, just make sure it is installed properly and shot a bunch to ensure the peep is in the perfect spot.

Was something I said untrue? There are a ton of people who post pics online of a rifle killed deer, only to be followed up by a comment like his... "I wish I had killed it with my bow". Only thing stopping you from doing that is the moment you grab the bang stick. If you are going to kill...

If you would have been happier to take him with a bow, why didn't you? Makes no sense to me when people say that while sitting behind their rifle killed deer. Best way to kill stuff with a bow, is to use one :) Nice buck regardless, congrats!

If the bucks are chasing doe's, or even interested in them, try a decoy OR stalk the doe's, try to get to where they are headed... I sure wish I could be doing this hunt right now!
