Anyone been out hunting this hunt and having as hard a time as us in finding the bulls? We have hunted for 4 days and cannot find a descent bull. For such a popular hard to draw tag the bull elk population is poor. Just curious if anyone is having better luck than us or if this is just a down year.

They are there. After they rut those big bulls go off by themselves into think cover. I hunted 231 years ago for my bull, spent lots of days behind glass not seeing anything. Get high, glass, don't be afraid to move to other areas, you'll find them.

Thanks hevishot. Yah have spent alot of time up high and glassed a bunch but cant turn anything up thats worth going after. The weather was terrible the first three days. Maybe that had something to do with it to. Today was cold and clear but still couldnt find much.

Try the east side of Grafton above Geyser, but you need to get up near the base of Grafton. Had the tag in 2007, killed a nice bull up there. The bulls were pulling down into the juniper within an hour or so after light, but we would always catch them feeding on the low foothills early in the morning. I saw more than one nice bull in those draws and ridges.

I don't mean to add to your anguish but I just had a buddy kill a 372" bull up there. I'll get a photo up as soon as he sends them to me.

The big guys are there...just a matter of finding them.
