12a west hunt

Hey guys, I was lucky enough to draw the late hunt in 12a west this year. I haven't hunted that side and was wondering what you thought. I heard there is a burn area that is about 10 years old in the southwestern part of the unit. Do any of you know where that is and if it would be holding a large number of deer during the late hunt? I would appriciate any suggestions. Thanks.

The Bridgers Knoll Fire burned through the Sowats area a decade ago and has become even more popular with hunters since the fire. You'll see plenty of deer there and lots of hunters, guides, and outfitters. Be patient and stay on the glass and you should find a mature buck. Other places to look for on your North Kaibab National Forest Map are The Gooseneck, JumpUp, & The White Pockets.

Good Luck

Dang it Jim, you're giving up the good spots! How am I ever going to get a client with you passing out this free info?

Well ok, since I've already got two hunters, go ahead and tell them what they need to know.

Heck Don- Those fabled spots are written up in every western outdoor magazine on every rack in every store from Montana down to the Kaibab...not to mention scrawled across the stalls of every restroom in betweeen!

No "secret spots" on the Kaibab anymore. That being said, where you guys earn your money is in the knowing when to be where and why based upon weather and traditional deer herd movement.

Good luck to all you 12AW tag holders...

I sure appriciate your help. Can you tell me what FR 22 is like? Should I have any problems getting down there with a trailer this time of year?

Starts a week from tomorrow. Getting a little nervous with the weather being as hot as its been. Hopefully I'll be able to post my first story and picture for you guys in a couple of weeks. Thanks for all the heip

There is a cold front working its way through and it should drop the highs by about 15 to 20 degrees!!! You got a great hunt and with weather starting to drop the big bucks should start to move. Best of luck to you on your hunt!

Leaving in a few hours with two tag holders, wish us luck. One vet and one first timer. Each with max bonus points.
