14A Archery deer Monticello

I have never hunted this unit, I am taking my wife to try and get her a deer with her bow. Anyone have any ideas where I should look? Is there any private land we can get access on? What should I expect on this hunt? Thanks

If you head up the hills/mountain above Monticello, you should be able to get her into some deer. There is usually quite a few deer along the roads there. She should have a chance at several young bucks, and even a chance at a few mature bucks. But if you hit the roads and atv roads along the Blues, you should be OK.

I've hunted the Blanding / Monticello area for quite a few years. There are deer almost everywhere but the bigger bucks are going to be much harder to find of course. There are also people everywhere in this unit, lots of road hunters and guys that won't get off their quads and will drive through the middle of the forest at the lower / easier elevations. I'm backpacking in to higher elevation this year to try to get away from the crowds. Not sure what your hunting tactics are but a lot of guys sit stands over salt or over water too.
