We hunted Northern Utah in an area that my family has hunted for 70 years or more. We had been seeing a few decent bucks but nothing that really got us going. Finally we found this buck. We watched him for about an hour and then decided he was what we were looking for. He was following a doe through some Cedar's and we missed him three times. We thought that we had hit him, but never found any evidence. We left the area and let it rest for a couple of days. On the third day after we initially saw him, we went back and he was standing 20 yards from were we had first seen him. We recognized him instantly from his right antler. It's pretty unique. We wasted no time and got on him again and I got the job done the second time. We were pretty lucky finding him the first time, and I was really lucky that I got a second chance.
Thank you for all of your responses and comments. It was a fun hunt.
