It started off in the spring of '08 with shed hunting, I had a really good year and found the most sheds I have ever found in one year. Here are a few of them.
Here is a 8x6 set I found. This is how I found this shed I thought it was cool how it stuck in like this.
The 8th point was broke off, right behind his 2nd point.
Here is the biggest shed I found this year.
Here are some that me and my dad found on one of the better trips.
Here are all the sheds I had found by the middle of april, I found a bunch more deer horns in the fall that I dont have pics of.
Here I am on my ut genral season archer elk hunt, I had a couple missed opertunites, but had fun.
Here is my cousin Tys cow he got on the same hunt, shot her at 30 yards in the thick timber.
Next I was off to Arizona with some friends on another archery elk hunt. Here is my buddy Russ takeing a nap in the hammock.
And this is a pic that will haunt me for along time, I shot this arrow at a huge 350+ bull at 23 yards only to have it hit a small branch at 20 yards and sail over his back :'(
Ty and Russ were able to connect on this hunt, Ty shot a spike towards the end of the hunt, and Russ got a cow.
Here is Tys First ever bull.
The rest of us had oppertunitys but just couldnt pull it together. It was a blast though and we had alot of fun.
Then I came back to utah, I still had a archery deer tag and decided to go look for a buck to shoot, I found this guy not far from the house, he was at 67 yards and I decided if he would give me a shot I would take him, well he walked closer to 59 yards so I let her fly and got my first animal of '08, he is a goofy little buck that I had seen a couple months earlyer and he was like this then too. He has a 3" bladed spike on one side and a bigger 2 on the other.
Here I am with my nephew Steven, this is his first buck hes gotten to see.
I figured I would through this pic in aswell, these are my cousin and Uncle's bulls they got on the Bookcliffs Roadless unit. Uncle Dans bull was a 6x6 that scored 296, His daughters bull is a 6x6 that scores 305, and Uncle Jims bull scored 343 as a 6x6. They had fun and all got there biggest bulls to date.
Here is a pick from the genral rifle elk hunt, my two brothers(two on the bottom left) shot this guy on opening morning after I pushed him out of the trees to them. We decided to get everyone there in for a picture.
Then I was headed back down to AZ for a rifle deer hunt, I hunted hard for the entire season looking for one of the Monster bucks that I know live in the unit and passed on some that were alot bigger than this one, but when we found this guy 1 hour befor dark on the last day I decided to take him. I made 4, 400 yard shots to put him down.
Next I was headed for colorado for a 3rd season deer hunt, unforntuly my Az hunt over laped it and I only had a day and a half to hunt, I made a little hike on the evening befor the last day but only saw does and people tracks all over the place. I slept in my truck that night and got up about sun rise and decided to hike into a spot that had a couple canyons that looked good on the map. I get in there and am not seeing any deer but am seeing quite a few people tracks, after getting in about 3/4 of a mile and not seeing anything I decided to head back and go home empty. As I was hikeing out I noticed a doe about 8oo yards out go over a little ridge so I decided to go check it out and see if she was alone. I got over there and imediatly saw 2 does bedded in some tall grass in the bottom of a draw, I decided to stalk over closer to see if there were any more deer in the area. I had gotten to within about 300 yards of the does when they seen me and left the area. I decided to back the way I had come but was lower on the ridge I got about 100 yards from where I jumped the does when I noticed a does head sticking out of the 3 foot hight grass about 30 yards away. She finaly blew out and up jumped about 12 head includeing a little buck, they got out of sight before I could look him over and then reapeard about 350 yards out on the next ridge over, I decided he would do and shot him. Hes not a monster but he is the only buck I saw on public ground and I am happy with him.
Here is a pic of me with him deboned and in my pack. I had to pack him out a little over a mile.
Next my cousin Wilbert had a Utah LE hunt that I decided to tag along on, we had a great hunt and seen well over 50 bulls, he decided this was the one for him and made a awsome 630 yard shot to drop him in his tracks, the bull is a 6x7 with a really cool third point that drops down and is broken off, he scored 315 as is but would have been 330 if unbroken, his 7th point was broken off as well.
