I didn't want to waste anytime in 2010 getting started with my hunting season so when I got the chance go to Mexico with my dad and some friends for a coues deer hunt I jumped on it. We drove down through Tucsan, AZ and across the border down to Sonora (don't drive it was a joke)and started hunting last Monday. I was the only bowhunter in the group so I went to a waterhole early to get my blind set up. I was a bit nervous because the waterholes were a bit big with the far side being 66 yards. I had plenty of coues deer hit the water but most were does and small bucks. With hot weather and a lack of rutting activity it was tough. After 5 full days in the blind I finally got my chance. I saw a nice coues buck coming to the water. He stopped to drink at 48 yards. He was facing straight on drinking and I waited at full draw for him to turn. As he turned to walk away I settled the pin and took the shot. It wasn't my best hit but he didn't go far and I quickly followed up a second shot to finish him off.
He scores right around 95" and I have to say they are really cool animals.
P.S. I also killed a bobcat with my bow at 62 yards out of the ground blind.
