Just returned from my 2015 muzzle cow elk hunt. Sorry to say no meat in the freezer. Not making excuses, but pulled a muscle in my leg the day before opening while scouting. I was unable to walk more than 1/4 mile so was limited to the area close to the roads. Hunted the Sanborn Park area and saw three bulls and a few cows. Only one cow presented a chance but was unable to get a clear shot. Could have killed a bull. It was a fun and great experience. My cousin was able to get further from the road and saw more than I. He also could not get a clear shot and opted to go home empty handed rather than take a chance of wounding shot.
Really hard hunting an area that you have never seen. A lot of hard studying of maps payed off as I knew all the roads and the location of water holes.
