23 or 27 coues

Which unit would you prefer for a coues tag and why?

We hunted 27 this year and really struggled.

Thanks, Have never chased them before, but have been thinking about giving them a go this year.

Personally only been in 27, but I have a few buddies that have hunted them multiple times in both units and now only hunt 27. Better numbers, better age class and very good genetics. On the 23 hunts, they would come home with 80-95" bucks, since hunting 27, 100+ bucks with a few well over 110" which is amazing to me!

Is there any advantage with the 2nd hunt over the 1st? What I'm hearing is that the rut isn't until January?

Have hunted 23. Except for the forest service areas and intermittent access points, access in general is the biggest hurdle in 23. The checkerboard public land is generally unaccessible cause of private land being locked to get to it. In some cases even the public land has been locked. Or, are told you cant go there by landowner. Having been raised around ranching, I see both sides, but its still frustrating as a guy who values both outdoor recreation and the western way of life...
