Hey guys. A buddy and myself drew the late hunt. We have been planning and getting in shape for awhile now. One question we have is can a guy raft across the river at most of the airstrips? Our dates will be Nov 7th-15th. We realize we will more than likely need to hike up or down from the strip but without seeing the river it’s an unknown we have. As of now we are planning on going in to one of the strips from Bernard up to Thomas creek. We would like to get away from the strips and pack in. We know we have our work cut out for us and neither one of us will be shooting a buck just to fill a tag. Our goal is 160 or something unique. Feel free to send a PM if need. Thanks for any input.

Most years yes. Can get very cold some years with ice across most of the river. Helps to have something to claw your raft across some ice as the edges freeze and it gets a little sketchy. Always have the plan B of just stay on your side of the river. If you hike a few miles from the strip you will mostly be alone. Be in good shape cause that country is straight brutal. But amazing so enjoy the hunt

My group will be in 27 late also. We will be packing in with our llamas and hoping to locate deer at that time of year.

Yes we were wondering about the river freezing up. We will definitely have a plan B and C. Thanks for your reply
