3/301 Pronghorn is not looking good…

Just a heads up. Whoever drew the few tags that they gave out for 3/301. If you haven’t been out scouting yet it’s not looking good at all. I just spent three days out there. We come in on CR17 to CR 7 up to great divide. Camped and drove some of the property around that area. And did not see a single Pronghorn in three days. I usually I see herds of them this time of year. I can see why they cut the tags by over 80%. Those that burned a lot of points for that tag. You might want to go take a drive out there if you haven’t already and take a look for yourself. You might want to consider turning it in. And waiting a few years to see if the herd rebounds. Oh, and by the way, the Deer didn’t look much better. And I have a Deer tag.

If you were willing to put in for, and burn you’re points on any antelope tag in the NW corner of the state this spring after the enormous winter kill you probably live under a rock…..
Shame on Colorado Parks and Wildlife per the usual for even issuing tags this year. But it’s CPW what do expect..

Agreed with your comments coloradoboy. Blows my mind that not only did they give tags but they still issued doe tags. Proof it’s about the dollar

Truth be told, this unit has been in crisis for the past 3 years at least.

The other discouraging fact is that CPW is continuing to reissue turned in tags for these units. If it was about the herds and not the money this wouldn't even be a consideration.

Anecdotal but im hearing the cpw's speed goat counts are coming out a little thin in the gunnison basin right now too

There’s never been much for speed goats in the basin to begin with

Theres some town deer left but i think they all either went to unit 29 or caught on fire

I wonder what effect this is going to have on CWD....hope this might be the only good thing to come out of this ?
