Good morning All, regular viewer and have not posted much.
After 10 years I got lucky and drew an archery bull tag for 3A/3C coming up soon. Palns to make 3 or 4 scouting trips have not happened and now I am looking for some direction. I would appreciate any help, as I am afraid I won't be able to make it up until the hunt. Thank you!

Seems like after investing 10 years to draw, you would somehow find the time to scout over those 10 years. If you dont know the area and are just going up for the hunt, hire an outfitter. Thanks, Allen Taylor......

There is a little problem with 3A3C. Don't get me wrong there are still some big elk up in there, but from what I understand, there have been increased tag numbers and elk killed both on the AZ side and the indian reservation. The indians significantly increased kill numbers. This has really hurt the unit in quality and quantity. So if you want to get a bull, you better start scouting real hard or get an outfitter.

Thanks for the some of the suggestions. An outfitter is not an option, plus I like the DIY thing.
I was just looking for some places to start. I may be able to head up the weekend before.

Well I have the tag also and grew up in Clay Springs. One thing I will suggest if you can stay north of Hwy 260. If you get north of 260 you will get away from most of the people. Quality and quantity are down from the last few years as stated above but it still should be a good year. There are tons of tags and every tag will have 3-4 guys looking for them. You will find elk everywhere in the unit, hunt hard and don't get frustrated with the masses.

Thanks MTNMAN, appreciate the help.
Good luck on your hunt, maybe I will see you up there?

Hunt north of FR300 between the fire tower and Black Canyon Lake. There are a few springs in the cuts in the burn area that the bulls like to wallow in.
