54 Late Season

Has anyone had any luck during the late season in unit 54? The elk have not been in their usual wimtering grounds but since the latest storm I was wondering if anyone knows if they have moved or are moving down.

The elk are moving down big time. Unfortunately, I think a few deer that were too far up valley won't make it. Deer were in CB South earlier this week and w/ over 64 inches of new snow over the past 72 hrs (and more coming), it's going to be a long haul towards Gunnison! Next yr may be worth point banking.

Thanks for the imput, the elk have moved down which has made the hunting really good. I hope the elk and deer populations don't take a big hit this winter.

Did anyone hunt the late elk season in 54 or 55 and is that a cow only hunt?

My brother and friend hunted the 54 late season. You can only hunt cows during that season and only the eastern portion of unit 54 is open. They both tagged out the second weekend of the season.

Does it take very long to draw that tag, or are there any leftover licences availabe?
