A little info

I drew a black powder tag for North East Utah and have not hunted in this area before. I'm not asking anyone to give up their secret hole but just a little advise of what to expect and maybe an area to start off with.

Is it that nobody hunts up there or is it that everyone is being tight lipped. I have fished the around the flaming "G" area and seen some good muleys around there but was looking for some input from guys who actually hunted the area.

I have hunted the area but it has been years since I have done so. We hunted up toward spirit lake. Saw deer there but also plenty of hunters. I have seen plenty of deer when I have been in the area around flaming gorge. I would try your post in the mule deer forum to see if you get some better response there.

The Muzzy tag in my opinion is alot better than the rifle by far not as many hunters but there are still alot of hunters. I live here in the boundary and have hunted it for 9 years myself and before that I tagged along with my dad or grandpa every year I can remember. Like most places it is not as good as it once was but still holds some smoker bucks "IF YOU CAN FIND THEM". Some I would look more west of flaming gorge try any of the mountains or drainages west of vernal mosby, deep creek, white rocks, farm creek, pole creek, grouse creek. Any of those would be good starting places. Don't hunt to High in elevation not saying that there are not deer up there but you would have better luck a little lower. Don't expect to see anything much over 18 inches wide you will see a lot of forkies and spikes good luck.
