Here we go again. Trophy hunting has become a disease!!!!!!!! Most of us have kids, you know, small people who are in school but whom we like to take with us. The nine day hunt gives us two weekends to have our kids with us. Second, us jackasses that would consider eating what we kill, well enough said, only a clown hunts old animals to eat, so the trophy hunter kills to get points, and thusly are what the anti's say they are. No, I wouldn't pass a monster to shoot a spike, but my goal is to spend as much time with family and friends in the hills as possible. Killing is way down the list. Third, my guess is your first deer wasn't a 180 point 4x4, it was probably some dumb spike/ 2 point that stood around long enough for you to shoot it. I have hunted deer for 21 years(with a gun, 32 years just going), I am 35 and can count on one hand the 20" plus bucks I have killed. So should we just tell our kids, hey hunting is fun, but you can only go 2 days because your in school, and the only deer you can shoot is a trophy, so you will never learn to kill clean, but hey this is fun. I am for a 3 point or better system( 3 points are still young enough to eat well) for those older than 18, our kids should be allowed to kill a deer, period. Second, antler size has nothing to do with genetics, what I mean is, a 180 4x4 breeds a doe, the resulting buck has his genes. If this young buck breeds before he is a 180 buck, he still carries the genes passed on to him. His genes don't improve with age, they are the same from birth. I also would like to see smaller zones. Lastly, tomorow is opening day, and I am home with H1N1, you never miss it until you can't go, so don't screw the working guys and kids out of time, so you can shoot a monster!
