I was told this area has been very dry the last couple years and horn growth on antelope would be off alot. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this area. Wife has the tag and has killed a few antelope, she would like to find a high 70's type buck. Is this a bad year to give it a try? Thanks, Rob

If you are going to hunt around the alfalfa water shouldn't be a issue for horn growth but else where I am sure it could effect them some.

By looking at the horn length information on NDOW's website, I think an upper 70's buck will be doable. There were about 30% of bucks at 15 inches or better (reported), and quite a few were 14" or better. I agree that anywhere within eye sight of a hay field will produce bigger bucks. Also, some of that country is pretty high elevation so water may not be as big of a concern as you might think. I have hunted it a few times for lions and have seen some antelope, but it is big country.

Thanks for the replies. We will have to hunt the last part of the season as we also drew New Mexico antelope tags. We would only have about 4 days to hunt after NM. do you fellows think that is enough time? Thinking about turning it back in just becuse we are limited on time this year. Thanks again, Rob

I would turn back the tag since you are hunting in NM. The best bucks will be found before the hunt starts and harvested in the first couple of days. When you do draw a NV tag, get there several days early and find "your" buck.

Let me know if you need help in that unit and decide to hunt it, plenty of big bucks...

Thanks bigame, We are going to plan on hunting in NV. So any tips would be great. I sent you a pm. Also thanks to the others for the tips. Rob
