Any 3-gunners?

I am looking to get into 3 gun shooting, and I would like to hear if anyone has any experience in this area. I have a Ruger 9mm and a pump shotgun, but I still need to get an AR. Any suggestions? I was thinking DPMS, but I would appreciate your input. I also would like to know if the Weatherby SA-08 would be a good semi-auto shotgun to use, being that money is a bit tight. My step-son loves shooting as much as I do, so I thought this would be an excellent bonding idea. What would be the best material to make targets out of? I have 240 acres to build a range on. Where could I get patterns or dimensions to make the targets from? I realize I'm bombarding you with questions, I apologize. I am just really excited and would appreciate any advice or input.
