So this will be my first year going shed hunting and if anyone is kind enough to share a good area that is not too far from springs I would love to hear! I will probably be going on my own is the reason I dont want to go to far. Although I hear gunnison is a killer area for that! I just love adventures and love hunting and never have been shed hunting so thought what the heck why not?!? :)

Shed hunting season is about over as the grass is too tall to find many antlers. That being said, I shed hunt all summer, I just concentrate in the timber and fringes. Get a Pike National Forest map and head up near Deckers, Woodland Park, or the Hayman Burn area and just start hiking. Get ready for next year by learning an area, and then this winter, start going for drives and learning where animals are wintering. I find some decent ones from those areas, but not the numbers I use to find up north in the sagebrush. Good luck.
