Steve,
From my knowledge of strip deer is mature bucks runs around 24-25 inches on ears when spread out. Mexico is much warmer than St. George, more importantly St. George and the strip is much colder, therefor ears need to be shorter to keep from freezing at the extremities. Most MATURE desert bucks (5-8+) will sport 26-28" ears. They say this buck is 6? I think, nonetheless a desert deer, from Mex at this time of year will weigh around 175 to maybe 200 lbs. Strip bucks will be heavier, therefor the lighter buck will appear larger racked.
There is no doubt this is a large deer, no doubt the strip has large deer, but I have seen bucks with this frame(4x4 or so) in the AZ desert. I guess this buck is outside w/ cheaters around 38", main frame to be about 35". Very seldom do you see the extra activity here though. This is a great example of a big desert muley, really big! Somewhere around 260? I don't know!
Bigger body, smaller ears or smaller body bigger ears-- don't matter, cool to look at!
