First I would like to thank all of you the citizens of Idaho for offering such a great hunting opportunity. I drew the second Super Combo Hunt thank you all. Now comes the realization that I won this once in a lifetime hunting opportunity and I have only hunted in Idaho once before. I need your help, I have an Idea of what units to hunt, Unit 40 early season for Elk, Unit 45 for Deer, Units 4, 5 and 6 for Moose. But that's all I know, those of you that have hunted in these units and know them I could use all the advice you are willing to share. Thanks again.

Sorry man, I think these super hunts should be for residents only. Maybe someone that thinks its ok can help you.

I'm sorry bowhunt, I don't think that was called for. All the guy asked for was for some info. If you've got it and are willing to share than offer it. If not, then keep your opinions to yourself and go on some other thread to vent.

wolff-I've got some info for ya on unit 45. I'll get it together and send it your way. It's a crying shame when another non-resident (me) is the one to provide info. Oh well.

Congrats to you on getting these tags. Sounds like you will have a full boat. I am a resident of Idaho and hope you smoke a bunch of monster animals.
Get ahold of some of the different biologists in the different regions and ask them. If I had these tags I would be doing some major research. It is coming fast for some of the hunts.
What all do you get to hunt?

+1 for jjwillie.

BHWAR, you have issues girl, maybe you need to think seriously about joining a new forum that offers personal therapy.

All this person wanted was insightful information from kind people willing to offer it up, that's what these forums should be for.
I realize you got pretty beat up in the other furums, why show your own state how cruel and selfish you can be?
You want allies or friends, your going about it the wrong way girl.

If you wanna not play nice, put it in the campfire and wait out the ##### storm.

......never thought I'd miss BQHIdaho.

Congrats wollf.....you have to feel overwelmed......I don't have any specific help other than to say if you can't devote time to all species, don't feel obligated to hunt them all. Pick what your most excited about hunting and concentrate on that or you might shortchange yourself on them all.....Good luck and do it how YOU want, they are your tags.

Congrats, lucky you and thanks for supporting the program. I take alot of new hunters out on access yes properties and have a couple of freinds ranched that or enrolled in the program. I wish I could be of help to ya never hunted any of the units you are interested in I talk my friends and see if nyone know anything about the moose hunts cuase that a little bit closer to home. GOOD LUCK on all your hunts.

I'll be sending you a PM wolff..............Congrats on the tag............I'd be overwhelmed too and I've lived and hunted here my whole life!

LAST EDITED ON Aug-19-08 AT 06:10PM (MST)[p]Wow another scathing, remarkably similar to Bqh, post, by who?? BHWAR. I think slam is right go find another forum where you can be top dog and ppl will actually care what you say. I still think you are timber hunter aka Bqh aka bow hunts which makes you a liar, fraud and general skunk of a person. guess i could have summed that up with troll.

Congrats on the Tag wolff best of luck to ya and i hope it turns out to be the hunt of a lifetime!

+1 for what supersider said. The biologists are a huge help for the different areas. I know they helped me a ton on last years sheep hunt.

Also +1 for slam, BHWAR...serious issues

congrates wolff, pm me if you need more info on 45 deer, my friends have two tags this year but there's more then one spot. 2nd, to some of the others, you fill your messages with hate over hate!!!! makes no sense to me. Some Idahoains are still old folks with strong feelings for there spots and game they hunt, and I dont see anything wrong with that. reread your messages some of the rebut's sound worse to me! I have given any one I can info on places this year, but thats my choice! I have recieved info also, but I dont expect it! "fish on"!!!

you would be wasting your time in 4,5,6 for bull moose.. there are moose there deffinately yes, big one yes, but tough to hunt. kinda funny how popular those have become, i would say its more of a convenience factor, for folks to elk hunt at the same time. thats were a majority of the elk hunting in the panhandle takes place.
unit 2, lots O' moose. unit 1 also. but unit 2, totally no problem moose hunting. have alot of fun and see alot of moose.. hunt between sept15 and oct.10. and you'll have a blast. if your interested let me know and i will point you to them.

if you want to stay south..lemhi valley, tanks down there too.

Steel go research some of BHWAR post then you will change your tune. She or he is troll and thats that. She or he does nothing but spout controversial and scathing posts, not to mention she has a very questionable history.

Congrats wolff!!!

Am I Jealous? Hell yes I am, but I wouldn't let that stand in the way of helping out a fellow hunter in need. I'm a mid 40's lifelong resident and would love to help you out. I would seriously consider Bonneville and Caribou counties for moose. They are closer for you, and dominate the record books for B&C Bulls. They are also more open terrain and have great access. I killed a B&C bull in Bonneville Co. in 2001. The advise given earlier about dates for hunting moose are spot on. This is when the moose are the most active and visible. PM me if you are interested in detailed info on hunting moose in the SE Idaho area. Good luck on your hunts! Smokepoler63

Oh wahh people, I was just giving the man a hard time. Gaud! Chill folks. It was a joke. Ya know, sarcasim..? Geesh.
I'm sorry you people hate this timber hunter, but I have no freaking clue who that is. I have read some of the posts of this timber hunter. Don't know what to tell you little PI wanna bees but I am most definatly not this timber hunter. You people have my name and information from National Geographic so why do you feel the need to slander me and say I am these people and I am not? Get a life.

BHWAR's quote-

Hell of a way to treat a brand new member Woodrina, Do you seriously think this person knew you were joking?

And was that how YOU were welcomed to MM??

"Get a life".

Woodrina you seriously think we can believe anything you say?? You gave yourself away and now you are reaping the seeds you planted. here is what we have from you some bs pm to browtine that sounded made up. a post that says you dont even know your own bro that was livin with you, had been in a crash and seriously injured. Posts and grammar remarkably similar to a bqhidaho who disappeared right when you showed up. and a blatent disregarde for any decency on this site. basically and ill spell it out for you pretty plain, there are a few on this site who have follwed you and your posts. We who have dont like you and wish you would please spare us your drama and bull. or as slam says get a life.

Thanks for all the advice I really appreciate your time to help me make the most of each hunt. I will send a lot of private messages for more info to all who are willing to help out. Thanks again.

Congrats, Do your research and spend your time up here in Idaho WISELY and you should do well.

Thanks, I am spending all my time at work doing research - my supervisors don't like. I am going to take up to three month of work if i need to.

You have the right idea wolff, I'd probably quit my job,and live on a credit card for awhile. You have the rest of your life to work but you'll probably never draw these tags again in your life. Good luck

LAST EDITED ON Aug-23-08 AT 06:37PM (MST)[p]SE idaho is indeed your place for a huge bull moose, and large bucks. Congrats and good luck!! JT

I've watched a good bull moose in 73 if you are interested I'd be more than happy to let you know where I've seen him.

wolff I had that tag last year. After the 600 deer hunters got through the elk where scatered. several deer hunters told me the saw the biggest bull elk they ever saw headed for NEVADA!!! very frustrating I did finally find a small 6x5.for deer I would look towards 40,42,41.if you elk in there it would give you an idea of where to look.good place for antelope as well.got my first 15 inch goat in 42.

I have a now, 14 year old son who, the past 2 years, drew a deer, antelope, and elk SH tag. I scouted in 40, 44, 45 seperately for these animals. We didn't kill anything special but he had a lot of fun, but I will say you need to learn the country, but also understand the animals really change their habits from Aug to Nov. Maybe some places in the SW like Ariz and NM you can find deer and elk near their summer grounds but for the most part that isn't true here, as they all migrate and mostly quite a distance.
