Armendaris Oryx

Just wanted to send an Atta-boy to Ted Turner, the Armendaris Ranch, and Amando (the guide). My wife and I drew Stallion Range Oryx tags a couple of years ago and had a great hunt, even with all the wind. Unfortunately, my wife missed her oryx (multiple opportunities) and ended up with tag soup. She was super disappointed, but that is hunting.
This past year, we attended the FNAWS banquet here and my wife really wanted to buy the oryx hunt that Turner Enterprises had donated to FNAWS. I ended up purchasing the hunt for my wife and just before Christmas of this year we went oryx hunting on the Armendaris. What an incredible place, and Mr. Turner is doing great things for wildlife and range conservation (no subdivisions).
My wife had a great hunt, took an incredible bull and I had as much or more fun than she did. Our young son just thought it was the "coolest" experience.
Amando was great and was a hoot to be with. Mr. Turner was very gracious to support FNAWS (and all the other conservation work he does) with the donated hunt, and the Amendaris Ranch is incredible. What a treat to have the opportunity to tour part of the ranch.
Thanks again to Mr. Turner and Amando.

Not really..... but we all LOVE pics! Post 'em up! Congrats on the bull, sounds like a blast! How long was he???

The hunt was really great. There were more oryx than I could have imagined. For my wife who hasn't hunted much, it was perfect. If I was going to hunt on the Armendaris Ranch, I think that bow hunting would be the way to go. Lots of terrain, lots of oryx and they were definitely not as spooky as WSMR oryx. I know that you could have a great archery hunt with a high probability of success. I am going to say that we saw 100-150 animals and some really close. That was on the first and only day hunted.
Really a first class operation. The staff is incredible. As soon as we got back to the ranch HQ, Amando and another guide caped, skinned, and hung the carcass in the walkin cooler.
Picture attached of my wife's oryx. 37 1/2 bull. She missed an even bigger one earlier that day. FYI, the mountains in the background are at the southwest end of the Stallion range.
Thanks to the NM MMer's, you have the most active thread on this site and the most willing to help with information. If anyone needs info on WY, CO, or MT, let me know. I have spent a (great) lifetime chasing critters in these states.

Congrats, that is awesome. Way to get her involved in hunting.

Sent you a PM

I'm so jealous. I'd love to hunt that ranch. Great oryx! Also, I agree about the NM MM forum. It seems like so many other forums just end up with criticism and spitting contests.

I will try and hit all the questions presented and add a little. Thanks Vinihunt for all your work on NM MM. There were tons of buffalo. It truly is an incredible place.
I too like NM MM because the bickering is kept to a minimum. I do however like it when a good debate transpires, as long as it is kept civil and on point.
If you win or buy a hunt on the Armendaris, you will have a great experience. Good luck to all in the draws. I will be applying so that I can come back to NM and have a great time.
Also, my wife is a native NMer from Socorro.
